SOS Kinderdorf e.V.
A long-term customer of Pepper’s sister company Computershare Communication Services (CCS), SOS-Kinderdorfe.V. needed to increase donations for the beginning of the school year 2009. This gave Pepper the task of developing an attention-grabbing creative concept that was cost-effective both to produce and send out as a mailing to about a million potential donors.
To encourage people to donate, Pepper developed a creative concept with a sculptural approach. The mailing consisted of the typical shopping list that first graders get from their school; each item was labeled with its price, to show potential donors just how much SOS has to spend each year for the children’s school needs—and how much the organization relies on donations. The mailing was rounded off by a bookmark as a giveaway. A coded bank transfer form was sent along with the mailing to register the amount of each donation and measure the campaign’s success.
- The "realistic" representation of what a donation could buy led to more generous donations
- Thanks to the positive response, an online campaign was developed as a follow-up to the mailing
- By working closely with CCS, all send-out requirements such as postage optimization were met
